06.10.08 - If you build it...
... they will come.

I remember watching Field of Dreams as a kid and picturing myself as a top notch old school baseball player. I could imagine myself swinging for the fences and chewing giant wads of mouth watering Big League Chew. That is, until my dad brought home some chunks of wood and I ventured into the craft of making nail infested tiny "boats". The kind that frogs, turtles, or imaginary two inch river pirates could ride. I would usually take the boats down to the Rum River and send them out to sea with a string on my hand as an anchor. I was amazed at my ability to create entirely wooden boats that would float every time.

I've been through quite a few phases in my 22 years. Snail farms, gardening, soccer, autograph collections, tennis, building little paper mache men (don't ask)... Most recently I had a little run in with ant farms. There's something satisfying about having animals (or bugs) on your desk. Hence the inspiration for buying my Mom Sea Monkeys for mother's day.

Where am I going with this? Well.. all that being said, I'm being intentional to not make creating music a phase. It's not at all that I wouldn't ever be interested in it, but that it's so easy to be interested in the 10,000 other amazing/inspiring/brilliant things that are at our fingertips. Focus is king, but not always easy in a world of wonder that's so accessible.

I just wanted to put that out there. In part to let you know, and in part to see it in writing for my own sake.

Here's to continual building, and hope that "they" will come.

02.11.08 - Congratulations Minnesota. . .

11.27.07 - Life on the road. . .
Every once in awhile people ask me what it's like to be on the road. You know. . . the highs, the lows, the ups, the downs . I decided the best way to show the road life was via video, documenting a recent late night (early morning?) trip from Sioux Falls, SD to Detroit Lakes, MN.

The video quality is high (cell phone) and the time it took to make it was extensive (15 minutes... at most). The result? A pretty darn good representation of life "on the road". . .

10.26.07 - The Stick. . .
Wisconsin or bust baby.

AJ Miller and I buckled up and headed to our Eastwardly neighbor yesterday. Apparently La Crosse means "The Stick" in French. When you are "up nort" (up north) in Minnesota "The Sticks" means an abundance of trees. I was expeting an enormous grandfather like tree in the middle of the city.

AJ brought along a friend of his named Dubs, as in VW, as in VW TDI. 52 miles to the gallon anyone? You can tell by the smirk on his face that he is a happy man.

I had one of these guys before the show started

AJ warned that it probably wasn't smart to drink the whole thing before a show. Did I listen? No. Was I totally hyper or on a crazy sugar high?. No. . . Just really sick feeling. I'll have to work on my caffeine capacity.

10.06.07 - 3, 2, 1. . .
I just finished sipping a chai latte w/ soy milk here in Taylors Falls, Minnesota. I was leisurely checking CNN.com, Startribune.com, and some other slightly geekish sites.

I've since leaned in a little closer to the computer, squinted my eyes, and pushed my glasses to my nose in an effort to prepare for the official launch of bjorkostrom.com version 2.0.

Here we go, baby.

Blast off,
Bjork
